Coming soon (yes really) a new keyboard phone from Unihertz
It's been a loooong time since we saw a phone launched with a keyboard. Or has it?
As a former devotee I've constantly bemoaned the loss of the keyboard and footprint of my last Blackberry, the Key 2. I've had lots of phones since then and despite new cameras, processors and operating system upgrades they've all had one thing in common. They've all, without exception, looked exactly the same. A black rectangle of glass on one side, metal on the back.
Every time I've seen internet announcements of ‘a new BlackBerry’ I've rushed to read them, only to have my hopes dashed as the clickbait inevitably reveals it's ‘in the planning stages’ but - nothing ever happens.
So when I saw the reveals of the Titan 2 Elite being released, videos of it being used at Mobile World Congress and a touted release date of ‘Summer ‘26’ my interest was piqued sufficiently to have a good look into it. And it turns out it had a predecessor, the Titan 2, and it was available in the UK. So I ordered one.
I've been using it a week. It's absolutely huge, based on the old BlackBerry Passport (which was one of the few BlackBerry devices I didn't buy because of the size). But it's also absolutely brilliant, 5G, it runs every bit of software I've thrown at it on Android and now I really can't wait until the Summer for the much more sensibly sized Titan 2 Elite.
So, what do you think? Have you missed the keyboard sufficiently to give one of these a go as your next phone?
Or are you going to stick with your black metal and glass rectangle?
Let me know…
